Terms

The rules for using Sidetown, in plain words.

1. Who we are

Sidetown is published by Ewen Le Quéré, a private individual (see the legal notice). Contact: ewen@favikon.com.

2. What Sidetown is

A website that turns your side projects into a low-poly city you can share: a public page, a share card and a story image. Every feature is free. A paid option that only changes how a city looks will come later, with its own terms of sale.

3. Your account

You sign in with GitHub. One person, one account. Your page's address starts as your GitHub username; you can change it in Settings, and links to the old one stop working.

We can take back an address that impersonates a person, a project or a brand, and we will tell you before we do when we can.

4. Your content

Your projects, pitches and epitaphs stay yours. You let us store them, show them on your page and draw them into your card and story images, for as long as they are on Sidetown. Hidden projects are stored but never shown.

You are responsible for what you add, and for having the right to publish it.

5. Acceptable use

Don't impersonate anyone, don't post what you have no right to (someone else's logo, confidential work, personal data about others), and don't scrape, overload or attack the service.

If an account breaks these rules, we may hide content or close the account, and we will say why when we can.

6. Public pages

Your page is public, or unlisted: reachable by its link only and skipped by search engines. Its card and story images have public addresses so apps can show a preview of your link. Hidden projects never appear on the page or in the images. Anyone can preview a city from a GitHub username: previews use public repository data only, are not indexed, and never become a city until their owner signs in.

7. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. It is immediate: your city, your projects and their images go, and your link stops working. Export your data first if you want a copy.

If Sidetown ever closes, we will tell signed-in users at least 30 days before, so everyone has time to export.

8. Liability

Sidetown is a free service provided as it is. We work to keep it up and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will never be down or never lose anything. Within what the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses. Nothing here takes away the rights consumers have by law.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. If you live in another country, its mandatory consumer protections still apply. For any disagreement, write to ewen@favikon.com first; we will try to settle it with you before anyone goes to court.
